About K Leigh
K Leigh is an author, mom, & wife. When not momming, reading, and writing, she spends her time sharing inappropriate humor on social media and searching for her keys.
We asked K Leigh a quick round of Q&A’s, and here they are:
Q1: Does one of your main characters hold a special place in your heart? If so, why?
A: It’s hard to pick one. I love them all for different reasons. But there are bits of me in all of them.
Q2: What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?
A: I learned how words can hurt before I realized that they can heal. When I got glasses it was before glasses were cool. Now people wear fake ones to look cute and I’m like… really? 🤣 Sticks and stones merely break bones. Words can damage irreparably.
Q3: On a typical day, how much time do you spend writing?
A: One hour. Everyday. Even if it sucks. Normally in the car pick up line waiting on my kids to get out of school.
Q4: What was your favourite part, and your least favourite part, of the publishing journey?
A: My favorite part, no question, would be the friendships I’ve made. My least favorite part is marketing.
Q5: If you could ask one successful author three questions about their writing, writing process, or books, what would they be?
A1: I would ask Colleen Hoover about Verity’s letter. A2: I would ask Amy Harmon about her process. She writes beautifully and I’m in awe of her words. A3: I would ask Tamora Pierce all the things.
Q6: What are you reading now?
A: Bring You Back by Malynda Schlegel. I just finished reading Claret & Clippers by Daisy Linh.
Q7: What’s for dinner tonight? What would you rather be eating?
A: That’s like, the hardest decision my husband and I have to make. We both despise it. I’m going to be real here, we eat out way too much. So probably something from a drive-thru.I’d rather be eating… anything made from potatoes. They’re my favorite.
Q8: Favourite artist and favourite song?
A: My favorite artist ever would probably be Taylor Swift. My favorite song is Don’t You Wanna Know Me by Abbey Glover.
Q9: Where do you draw inspiration from?
A: Real life. Dreams. Conversations I eavesdrop on in the line at the grocery store.
K Leigh agreed to participate in a little flash fiction.
This is the cover of your next book, write the opening paragraph…
“The balloons arrived before sunrise, the scent of their fuel not nearly as comforting as the freshly brewed coffee my mother had sent me out the door with. Every year on the same day they come, and the lucky ones are sent to live in the clouds. Maybe this year my name will be drawn.”

My Burning Depths: VOL 1: Fire: Volume I of a poetry series inspired by the elements and poetry prompts.
Lia Winegar and her aunt have always been thick as thieves, as close as a niece and aunt could be.
Now, fresh out of high school, Lia plans to spend her last summer at home before going away to college. But as one chapter of her life closes, another begins.
When she stumbles upon one of her Aunt Natalie’s old journals—along with a faded photograph of a man she’s never seen before—Lia realizes her aunt’s life isn’t the open book she always thought it was.
Natalie isn’t the only one with a secret, though.
Lia still hasn’t told her family just how far she plans to go; and while she unearths her aunt’s whirlwind story through a firsthand account, she discovers some truths of her own.
As the forgotten story of one summer unfolds, how much of each woman’s tale will remain undeveloped?
